Motivational Art

Motivation is defined as the driving force or desire behind all actions of an organism. Art is defined as a product of human creativity. Motivational art is not only provocative in theme, it also stirs its audience up and encourages action. If art does not induce the observer to action, then it cannot truly be motivational art. What is the history of motivational art?

Early Motivational Art

A discussion of motivational art from the past would surely include a mention of propagandist art. Propagandist art was popular back in the days of World Wars I and II, in which a variety of mediums were used to promote national agendas, such as military recruitment or patriotism to one's country. Motivational art of this era included posters (such as the legendary “Lord Kitchener Wants You” poster from the United Kingdom, which later was reworked into “Uncle Sam Wants You” poster of America. Two notorious works of propagandist art include the Nazi-produced film “Triumph Of The Will” and the early American work “Birth Of A Nation.” Both films have been noted as outstanding works of achievement for their times, but both with strong propagandistic material.

Modern Motivational Art Work

Modern motivational art induces people to action but takes them on an individual journey, rather than a set organizational path. Some examples of modern motivational wall art might include posters featuring nature scenes and accompany text. For example, a tiny new tree next to a giant tree with the word “determination” written prominently – this is a motivational message that incites others to action in a positive way. Motivational framed art for office décor may also feature inspirational messages on sports themes and religious themes. Some inspirational posters feature popular sports stars who have reached a pinnacle of achievement in their respective sports – once a dreamer and now a legend. Christian themes are also popular forms of motivational art and could feature scriptures, paintings or beautiful scenes of nature with a comforting thought from above.

The most popular form of motivational art seems to be the message of individual encouragement. Every person wants to achieve a dream and sometimes he or she needs some friendly encouragement to push them farther or keep them resilient in times of hardship.

Business motivational art is also a popular trend, as many entrepreneurs feel that surrounding artwork can influence a person's mood – and of course, in the work place there is a need to be energetic and positive. Business owners also attempt to put artwork in strategic places to maximize the effect, as with Feng Shui.

Finally, if you need to feel the love from your computer, look for motivational clip art. You can decorate a letterhead or use a motivational icon on your website. Everyone wants to feel motivated because everybody dreams of a happier tomorrow. Motivational art helps you to look on the bright side.
